Transportation Maintenance Manager

Primary Purpose

Oversight and planning of direct or non-direct maintenance activities of the Heritage Transport rolling stock fleet,

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes and acting in a safe manner at all times.
  • Develop and manage the safe work place of all Heritage Transport or sub contracted garages in North America.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, order supplies, and maintain parts inventory.
  • Review and/or write manuals for maintenance activities, and develop files in accordance with DOT.
  • Interview, hire, train, provide direction, conduct evaluations, discipline, sets shop hours and recommend pay adjustments for subordinates.
  • Plan, schedule, and establish priorities to set deadlines to ensure completion of maintenance activities in a safe environment, while meeting the dispatch obligations.
  • Insures all bill backs, and job coding is completed. Works with accounting on all financial responsibilities for garages.
  • Other maintenance duties as required.

Education: High school diploma or its equivalent required. Formal training in MIG/tig welding. Formal training in airbrake assembly/repair, air conditioning and SCR engines. CDL preferred.

Experience: Five years' experience in maintenance activities in the transportation industry required. Two years of financial experience and responsibility of a transport maintenance facility preferred.

Knowledge and Abilities: This is a safety sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function. Knowledge of tanker, van, dump, pneumatic and roll-off spec's /maintenance. Good understanding of engine and OEM diagnostic software tools. Ability to work with maintenance and inventory. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.
