Transportation Laborer

Primary Purpose

Responsible for providing assistance and support resources to the HT drivers and contract drivers arriving at the landfill to offload containers and dump trucks.

Functions and Responsibilities

• Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
• Removes tarps and bows from the dump trucks and containers. Conducts container maintenance and lining.
• Removes residual wastes from truck/container tailgates after dumping in landfill. Cleans, wipes, washes and inspects containers prior to allowing them to leave landfill.
• Removes placards and labels using scrapers from previous generators after dumps/containers are dumped.
• Cleans any spills in the unloading area.
• Hooks and unhooks trailers, while operator is moving equipment into desired area.
• Inspects container tarps, bungee cords, bow, ratchet binders, tailgate seals and general container integrity.

Education: High School Diploma or its equivalent required.

Requirements: Must have valid drivers license.

Experience: No previous experience necessary. Will provide training.

Knowledge and Abilities: Ability to understand RCRA compliance standards and OSHA safety regulations. Must be able to wear PPE, including respirator. Must be willing and able to lift, push/pull, and climb during entire work shift. Must be willing and able to work in an outdoor environment. MUst be able to pass a Motor Vehicle Record Search. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.

A post offer drug screen will be required. A post offer background check may be required.
