Heritage Thermal Services (HTS) is dedicated to safety, compliance, our community and our employees. HTS is located on the Ohio River in East Liverpool, Ohio.  Known as the tri-state area, we border Pennsylvania and West Virginia.  The facility is approximately 30 minutes from the Greater Pittsburgh Airport and provides opportunity for big city adventures, small town communities, and country living. 

About the position:

The Senior Engineer has primary accountability for the plant engineering function. The incumbent works closely with the Leadership Team as well as all functional groups at HTS to establish direction and ensure plant safety and reliability in accordance with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably chemical.
  • 10 years minimum experience in an industrial/manufacturing/operations setting.
  • 10 years minimum in either hazardous waste and/or chemical plant operations a plus.
  • Knowledge of thermal destruction processes (past experience in process engineering and/or maintenance) and associated regulatory permits being a plus.
  • Technical knowledge of equipment and/or processes with chemistry background being a plus.

About the Position

Direct Reports

Develop and Manage engineering individuals to understand the plant and business:

  • Supervise, train and mentor plant/process engineer(s).
  • Manage, monitor and/or assist engineering and operations processes and functions.      
  • Directly do, assist or oversee specific tasks assigned.
  • Assist with financial, capital and other business budgets, while training/mentoring engineer(s) on P&L details.

Project Management

Lead and/or contribute to key plant engineering projects, including

  • Support Outages.
  • Scope of Work Development for Large Projects.
  • Project design implementations to maintain existing and add new capabilities.
  • Project Management of Capital, Plant and Cost Reduction Projects.
  • Manage, assist with productivity and business efficiency projects.

Technical Support

  • Provide in house expertise relating to NFPA reviews.
  • Reduce use of assumptions and expand use of support data for effective decision making
  • Apply statistical analysis when evaluating processes, defining projects and proposing improvements.
  • Provide engineering reviews and support for Capital Expenditures, MOCs, PHAs and PSSRs.
  • Reduce use of assumptions and expand use of support data for effective decision making.
  • Review, support and document any control system changes, upgrades and exposures.
  • Prepare reports for plant management on evaluation conclusions and recommendations for improving processes, maintenance practices, code compliance and documentation

Maintenance Support

  • Establish and maintain spare parts listings (including critical part identification and sourcing).
  • Measure reliability of key equipment components (MTBF, MTTR or other pertinent metrics as identified).
  • Troubleshoot and recommend solutions to process problems.
  • Evaluate plant maintenance procedures, practices, and equipment records making recommendations for improving predictive and preventative maintenance and incorporating good maintenance practices to ensure safe reliable performance
  • Evaluate plant mechanical equipment and piping performing walk-downs, internal inspections, and technical document reviews for compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Plant and process troubleshooting and equipment sizing

Site Mechanical Integrity Program

Develop and Manage the Site Mechanical Integrity Program to ensure

  • RAGAGEP Compliance.
  • Flow medium and materials of construction determinations and supporting documentation.
  • Established processes and maintenance of complete Equipment Files.
  • Support Maintenance Employee Training Program.
  • Development and implementation of standard maintenance procedures.
  • MOC Engineering reviews (Replacement in Kind vs. change support).
  • Ensure required testing is completed per schedule and corrective actions are completed.
  • Support instrumentation and field device specifications for procurement, function, maintenance and decommissioning.
  • Establish DCS strategy and infrastructure reliability path.
  • Leadership of the mechanical integrity team to deliver on plan objectives.
  • Complete engineering work orders.
  • Update drawings as needed.
