Senior Chemist

Job Summary: Assist the Assistant Plant Manager and Logistics Manager in coordinating activities of production in processing materials. Supervise Production Chemist.

Essential Functions:

  • The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Establish priorities and sequences
  • Prepare operational schedules and coordinate activities to ensure productivity and quality
  • Review production and operating reports and resolve operational and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays
  • Special projects as assigned
  • Supervise and train Production Chemist
  • Monitor On-Hold and Aging inventory
  • Cover for Production Chemist when needed
  • Requires regular and punctual attendance



Skill/Education:

  • Prefer: 1 - 3 years' experience in fuel blending
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry or a closely related natural science [this requirement may be waived under the following conditions: (1) several years' experience as a chemist; (2) demonstrable skills in evaluating and analyzing the physical and chemical properties of materials; and (3) commitment to pursuit of a bachelor's (or higher) degree in chemistry
  • Must be able to understand and carryout written and oral instructions
  • Prior Production Chemist experience preferred but other related experience considered

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 70 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must wear all required protective equipment, and work in an outdoor environment and withstand exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures and must pass a company physical and drug screen. Must be able to concentrate for long periods of time.

Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
