Safety Technician-Entry Level

Primary Purpose

Responsible for assisting Safety Manager in Environmental Health and Safety Compliance to help prevent harm to employees, property, the environment, and the general public.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
• High level of field auditing (Vac truck audits, general safety audits, training, meeting fill in).
• Assist Safety Manager in ensuring safety and compliance training is completed.
• Schedule annual physicals, company specific training, Hazwoper refresher, etc. for field workers.
• Provide EHS support in creation of new Safe Work Execution Planning.
• Assist project manager in performing job walks and hazard assessment.
• Knowledge of high hazard materials management /assessment.
• Assist in any incident investigation or after action reports.
• Ensure corrective actions or various safety initiatives are implemented.
• Develop good client relations by effectively communicating with customers.

Education: Four year college degree required. Science or Engineering degree preferred. OSHA 30 Hour Certification preferred. Hazardous Waste experience preferred. OSHA 30 Hour Certification preferred.

Experience: One to two years' experience with knowledge of HS&E requirements. Hazardous waste experience strongly preferred. Hazardous Waste experience preferred. OSHA 30 Hour Certification preferred.

Knowledge and Abilities: This is a safety sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function. Good knowledge and understanding of all federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to the Environmental Services Industry. Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with internal and external contacts. Must meet all Heritage Driving Qualifications. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.
