Recyclables Material Handler II

Primary Purpose                                                                                             

Load, unload, process and store nonhazardous and recyclable waste materials in a high tempo environment.  This position will perform all plant processes and operations.                                                       

Essential Functions and Responsibilities                                                                                             

• Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
• Load and unload recyclables safely in accordance with Company, Federal, State and Local regulations/rules.                            
• Utilize thorough knowledge of sorting and processing procedures based on established Company categories.                              
• Safely operate equipment to process materials including balers, shredders, granulators, extractors, pumps, tanks, pressure washers, crushers, compactors, etc., with little or no supervision needed.           
• Operate fork truck with attachments, pallet jacks and all other material handling equipment with little or no supervision needed.  Utilize scale equipment to document all receiving, shipping and inventory activities.                                                           
• Safely and effectively manage materials to and from processing line operations in accordance with established Company & OSHA requirements.               
• Verify and properly grade recyclable products and ensure that processed materials meet established specifications prior to shipping.                                
• Provide some direction to others performing sorting, processing and housekeeping duties.                        
• Perform defined equipment inspections and PMs (Preventative Maintenance), cleanup and housekeeping duties.                        
• Serve as a resource and possibly be expected to train less experienced personnel.                                         
• Flexible to possibly run additional weekday or weekend shift(s) as needed.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.                                                                                              

Experience: 1 - 2 years of related experience required.                                                                                              

Knowledge and Abilities: This is a safety sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function. Good working knowledge of EPA, DOT, and OSHA regulations is a plus.  Good knowledge of general industry practices required.  Ability to lift 60 pounds.  Ability to wear various types of (PPE) Personal Protective Equipment, including respirator.             

A post offer drug screen will be required.
