Recyclables Material Handler I

Primary Purpose

Identify, disassemble, sort, load, unload, process, and store various recyclable and nonhazardous waste materials.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
• Disassemble materials, equipment, and parts using various hand tools and metal cutting torches.
• Perform materials inventory & management.
• Load and unload solid and liquid waste & recyclables safely in accordance with Company, Federal, State and local regulations/rules.
• Utilize hand trucks, pallet jacks, fork trucks with attachments and other handling equipment to move material to and from trucks and within the facility.
• Safely operate equipment to process materials including balers, shredders, grinders, extractors, pumps, tanks and pressure washers.
• Properly sort materials based on pre-established guidelines for additional processing.
• Perform cleanup and housekeeping duties as directed.
• Utilize knowledge of applicable EPA, DOT, and OSHA regulations.

Education: High school diploma or its equivalent required.

Experience: Prior forklift operation experience preferred.

Knowledge and Abilities: This is a safety sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function.Basic knowledge of EPA, DOT, and OSHA regulations preferred. Ability to understand general industry practices. Ability to lift up to 60 pounds. Ability to wear personal protective equipment. Including respirator. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.
