Recyclables Maintenance Technician

Primary Purpose                                                             

General maintenance and repair of equipment, buildings, and grounds.                                                 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities                                                

• Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.                                                  
• General plant maintenance including inspections, repairs, servicing, and installation.                                                        
• Repairs and maintains extruders, balers, forklifts, compactors, semi-trucks and trailers, and other equipment in accordance with Heritage policy's and manufactures recommendations.                                               
• Works directly with the Maintenance Manager to complete tasks in an efficient and cost prohibitive manner.                                                      
• Reports to the Plant Manager on equipment needs, scheduled and lost downtime, deficiencies, and discrepancies                                                               
• Performs Quarterly/monthly/weekly calibrations as required.                                                    
• Keeps maintenance shop and parts inventory orderly, clean, and stocked to ensure a safe and productive work environment.                                                   
• Works with Plant Manager, Maintenance Manager, and Operation Manager to build budget plans                                                             
• Operates forklift to load / unload trailers, move equipment or materials.                                               
• Must be able to be On Call/Department Rotation.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent                                                                                                                                                                                           

Experience: 1-3 years Industrial Maintenance experience required.  General knowledge of balers, rams, hydraulics operations required. 3-5 years' experience in recycling facility operations preferred.  Experience in Arc, MIG, and TIG welding preferred. Some electrical experience preferred.                                                                                                                                                 

Knowledge and Abilities: This is a safety sensitive position.  The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function. Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including respirator. Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with internal & external contacts. Ability to understand & adhere to RCRA compliance standards, OSHA safety regulations & DOT regulations. Must pass pre-employment drug screen, background check & DOT physical. Must live within one hour's drive time of worksite for consideration. Must be able to lift upwards of 70 pounds. Ability to operate maintenance tools and equipment. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.
