Recyclables Facility Manager

Primary Purpose

Responsible for facility operations, including safety personnel, compliance and budget and customer satisfaction.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
• Manage the day-to-day operations of the facility.
• Function in the capacity of primary point of contact for client(s) being serviced by the recycle facility.
• Responsible for client satisfaction at all times.
• Develop and manage all inbound and outbound recycle facility shipments.
• Schedule work assignments for facility personnel.
• Responsible for setting and achieving production goals of the facility.
• Responsible for compliance, safety, housekeeping and inventory of the recycle facility (including a 10-day DOT/RCRA operation).
• Review production and financial reports (Total facility P&L). Maintain and review metrics.
• Prepare cost accruals.
• Review and manage facility expenses including: P&L, customer billing, recycle revenues, disposal bills, time sheet approvals, utility costs, etc
• Annual budget preparations and submittal.
• Hire, train, discipline and evaluate facility personnel in accordance with the corporate HR program.
• Continuously monitor recycle and disposal programs for efficiency improvement.
• Manage and maintain any and all associated production data.
• Work closely with the service center Plant Manager concerning all 10-day activities.
• Manage the maintenance program for all associated equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required, 4 Year Degree is preferred.

Experience: Minimum 5 years in waste management/recycling industry managing a facility is required. Knowledge and working experience with stationary equipment such as shredders, extruders, compactors, balers, forklifts, trucks, air compressors and general bulk liquid/solid material vessels. Reasonable P&L experience associated with production operations. Practical application of computer generated data and production reports.

Knowledge and Abilities: This is a safety sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function. Thorough knowledge and understanding of all federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to the Environmental Services Industry. Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with internal and external contacts. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including respirator. Must possess a sound understanding of necessary equipment maintenance and general upkeep of a fixed facility. Sound computer skills related to Excel, Word and Power Point (at a minimum). Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.
