Recyclables Driver I

Primary Purpose                                                                                             

Transport, load, unload, and store nonhazardous waste and recyclable materials in a high tempo environment.  This position performs various tasks including driving semi-vans, straight trucks, tankers, and roll-offs.                                                   

Essential Functions and Responsibilities                                                                                             

• Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
• Drive and operate semi-vans, roll-off trailers, dump trailers and possibly tankers as required.                    
• Transport trailers consisting of customer's materials or processed materials to the Heritage facilities or other material outlets and return trailers back to the customer.  Complete manifests, bills of lading documents, and company issued forms for every load managed.  Drive to the customer site to transport sensitive & non-sensitive scrap material to facility for unloading and processing.                                          
• Prior to driving transportation equipment/prepare for daily trip by inspecting vehicle and equipment, fueling truck and insuring all equipment is in excellent operating order.  Maintain logbook for DOT compliance and state and federal regulations.                    
• Develop good client relations by effectively communicating with customers and business partners and provide exceptional customer service while performing pick-ups and deliveries.                                                        
• Load & unload solid and liquid waste & recyclables utilizing thorough knowledge of loading & unloading procedures in accordance with Company, Federal, State & Local regulations/rules.  Utilize thorough knowledge of storing & processing procedures based on Company categories.                                                        
• May operate a fork truck with attachments and all other HES vehicles.  Utilize scale equipment to document all receiving, shipping & inventory management.                                                                                       
• Verify recyclable products, processed materials and equipment meet established company and DOT specifications prior to shipping.                                                                                             
• Perform PM (Preventative Maintenance), Pre-Trip, Post-Trip, En-Route and Housekeeping inspections on trucks, trailers and any other equipment owned and/or operated by the company.                      
• May work shifts on weekends or any other time required within DOT allowable hours.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.                                                                                                                                          

Experience: Minimum 2 years CDL experience.  2 years of related recycling experience preferred.

Knowledge and Abilities: This is a safety sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function. Good working knowledge of EPA, DOT and OSHA regulations required.  Good knowledge of general industry practices required.  Ability to lift 60 pounds.  Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including respirator.                                                                                                                

Requirements: Minimum CDL License Class A  (Haz Mat endorsement not required).  May be required to obtain a Tanker or other endorsements.                              

A post offer drug screen will be required.
