Quality Control Manager

Primary Purpose: Manage the review and brokering for proper disposal of non-processable waste materials. This position interacts with various departments, areas and units within the plant and greater Heritage. Tasks include Paperwork management, identifying and resolving problems, material identification, segregation, and documentation, brokering planning and completing supporting documentation of waste management activities.

Essential Functions and Requirements:

• Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and always acting in a safe manner.
• Review lab analytical of incoming drum deliveries for proper processing.
• Identify and resolve waste delivery discrepancies.
• Knowledge of high hazard materials management/assessment, cylinder handling, hazardous waste generation, management practices, shipping, and related procedures, including container labeling, sorting and waste determination when needed.
• Head Technical Review Team
• Work with off-spec coordinator to ensure customers can receive a brokered option for off spec waste.
• Review pre-acceptance sample data and profiles, where applicable, to determine on or off-site final disposition.
• Work with lab manger to prioritize lab testing.
• Work with plant management to identify streamlined methodologies for problem waste streams and provide cost models as necessary.
• Work with plant management regarding current inventory to determine more efficient, cost-effective ways to handle waste, waste types, or specific containers.
• Work with CSX, Sales, and plant management for the management of unique waste streams, providing customers with technical approaches and solutions.
• Works with key customers, customer service reps, sales, and field managers to ensure good quality and continued customer relations. Supports Heritage leadership team in daily operations management. Ability to effectively communicate and help bring resolution to improvement opportunities.
• Participate in Lean Six Sigma Excellence initiatives.
• Ability to travel as required to meet with customers, suppliers, other team members, and/or to meet other business necessities.
• Perform profile change.
• Work with plant personnel to manage container relabeling.
• Provide back up in absence of Product Management Scheduler
• Direct Supervisor of off spec coordinators.

Education: Bachelor's degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related science required.

Experience: Seven to ten years on-site experience involving: waste profile information, waste analysis results, and waste processing methods.

Knowledge and Abilities: Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, EPA, and RCRA regulations. Must have computer skills with MMS, Word, and Excel. Leadership. Performance Management. Problem Solving/Analysis. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.
