Maintenance Manager

Primary Purpose                                                                                             

Responsible for ensuring the repairs and maintenance are performed on the company's equipment in a timely, safe and cost-effective manner.                                                                                        

Essential Functions and Responsibilities                                                                                

• Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.                                                                                  
• Directs mechanics in the repair of faulty equipment and establishes and maintains an active preventive maintenance program to ensure over-the-road equipment is available for use.                                                                                              
• Establishes schedules, tracks repairs orders, and supervises work performance of mechanics repairing equipment for fleet locations.                                                                                 
• Track levels of inventory items for repair and orders additional materials necessary to obtain optimum stocking levels.                                                                                               
• Serves as a resource for more difficult problems providing direction and guidance for less skilled mechanics. Occasionally performs mechanic work on an as-needed basis.                                                                                  
• Interview, hire, train, provide direction, evaluate performance, recommend pay adjustments, and when necessary, discipline or discharge subordinates.                                                                                      
• Develops, tracks and keeps reports for inspection on labor hours, fuel and inventory levels.                                                                                          
• May provide emergency road service repairs, if necessary.                                                                                           
• Responsible for hiring, performance evaluation, disciplining, and promotion and terminations.

Education: High School Diploma required. Further maintenance training required.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         

Experience: Three to five years progressive maintenance experience including some supervisory experience and metal fabricating.                                                                                                                                                                                                         

Knowledge and Abilities: This is a safety sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function. Through knowledge of EPA guidelines, as they apply to inspection and maintenance of hazardous transporting equipment. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.
