Primary Purpose

We are looking forward to growing our team with someone who is seeking an opportunity to help solve important business and customer problems through the lens of continuous improvement and applying the Lean Six Sigma toolkit.

This Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt will report to the Senior Vice President of CX and Business Excellence and will also serve a trusted partner with our operating locations. Your role will be responsible for developing, integrating, training, and leading our Continuous Improvement program that focuses on solving important business and customer problems, while strengthening our (internal and external) relationships (internally & externally) and equipping partners with the appropriate problem-solving toolkits. Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Specific responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Full development, training, and deployment of our entire Continuous Improvement program with a focus on Lean and Six Sigma (DMAIC) methodologies across the Heritage Group of Companies. Accountable to achieve target results through influence/coaching/mentoring your respective project/charter Champions and Belts (Green and Black).
  • Develop, maintain, and support the end-to-end elements of our Lean Six Sigma approach. This includes but is not limited to:
  • Maintaining the integrity of the Lean Six Sigma process in the supported organization(s) across Heritage Environmental Services and all functions (Manufacturing, Finance, HR,

Supply Chain, etc.) with a focus on sustainable cultural changes and capabilities to solve important business and customer problems.

  • Ensure that project gate reviews are robust through structured governance.
  • Develops rigorous control plans and control signoffs by working closely with process owners, project champions and senior management to ensure improvement gains are sustained on a long-term basis.
  • Deliver Lean Six Sigma training (YB, GB, and BB) in a classroom environment and facilitate hands-on exercises and simulations to ensure that training is never academic.
  • Coach and mentor individuals and teams in the practical application of Lean Six Sigma tools through their start to full completion of their projects with a cultural adoption into their respective business. Troubleshoots with team members to resolve obstacles/roadblocks, serve as a sounding board for problem resolution and ensures smooth, continuous progress on projects.
  • Participate in project selection & analysis; advise supported staff on prioritization of potential projects.
  • Maintain the centralized database, project tools, and report appropriate dashboard metrics, which is aided by your integration of deploying our continuous improvement software platform.
  • Develop high-quality summaries/presentations in layman's term for businesses and board meetings.
  • Foster sharing of best practices, and networking among Lean Six Sigma practitioners, which may also include a regular practitioner's summits.
  • Maintain the celebration for success, rewards for belt completion, project completion, and Board Chairman's award.

Qualifications and Candidate Background

The ideal candidate will have the following:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) required. Chemical Engineering is a plus. Master's degree in a STEM field and or Business is a plus.

Experience: Minimum of five (5) years as a full-time MBB (and/or BB) with hands-on Lean Six Sigma expertise in a medium or large/complex organization.

  • Participated in enterprise level Lean Six Sigma deployment in medium, large, or complex organizations.
  • Expertise in applying LEAN and DMAIC improvement methodologies; DFSS is preferred
    • LSS Certification: Six Sigma Black Belt/Master Black Belt and Lean Master Certifications from reputable program.
    • Fluent with Minitab software; coupled with MS Outlook, MSWord, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.
  • Background in manufacturing is highly preferred; chemical manufacturing is a plus.
  • Demonstrated strong business acumen such as P&L leadership and/or a diverse set of commercial/business functional roles.

  • Post phone screen, you could be asked to submit a copy of your certification(s) and a brief portfolio (1-2 pages) with a summary of project results in the following format for each project you choose to submit:
  • Project problem or opportunity statement (one paragraph)
  • Summary of key issues and findings in the DMAIC process (two paragraphs)
  • Realized ROI (one paragraph)
  • Number of facilitated GB and BB trainings, with respective number of belts within the trainings.

LOCATION

  • The position will be based in Indianapolis, IN with occasional travel (<10%).
