Lead Onsite Chemical Treatment Operator

Primary Purpose

Leads and directs crew and provides onsite operation services to ensure goals of the onsite operation are met in a safe and efficient manner.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
  • Leads the crew and directs employees in their assigned tasks ensuring production goals are met in a safe and efficient manner; oversees the safety of the crew to ensure that workers are wearing proper safety equipment and utilizing safe work practices.
  • Operates and maintains the centrifuge units and associated systems.
  • Adds proper mixture of chemicals to incoming liquid waste in order to process through the centrifuge to produce materials in accordance with Customer & Company guidelines rules and regulations.
  • Performs job in a safe manner, following all safety procedures.
  • Directs liquid waste through a system of pumps, tanks and centrifuges for treatment.
  • Monitors centrifuge operations and operations of scrubbing vessels & associated systems. Maintain Operating Logs and perform daily system checks.
  • Discharges treated water from tanks into appropriate sewers, manages oil and solids for offsite shipments.
  • Responsible for loading and unloading chemicals and supplies.
  • Position handles hazardous materials and requires use of PPE: Boots, Gloves, Suits, Eye/Ear Protection and Respirator, personal monitors.
  • Operate fork lift or similar machinery.
  • May participate in hiring, performance valuation, discipline, promotions and termination decisions.
  • Understand and follow related state and federal rules for waste management.
  • Responsible for keeping operating areas, walls, pipes and associated storage areas in a clean and safe condition.
  • Trains new employees in company and department procedures and monitors adherence.
  • Completes daily paperwork to track labor, equipment and supplies used for billing purposes and other associated paperwork.

Education: High School Diploma or its equivalent required.

Experience: Two years of experience in centrifuge operations required. One year of Heritage experience preferred.

Knowledge and Abilities: This is a safety sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function. Knowledge of OSHA plant safety regulations. Ability to understand RCRA compliance standards. Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment including respirator. OSHA 10 & OSHA 40 Hr training preferred.

A post offer drug screen will be required.
