Lead Mechanic - Class 8

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes and acting in a safe manner at all times.
• Work with and assign available tech to work on specific jobs for Driver pull-ups.
• Perform duties with little or no supervision in a timely and efficient manner.
• Maintain good customer service, act in a professional and courteous manner towards drivers, internal, and external customers.
• Build, re-build and repair all parts of Company equipment as may be required in the department to which they are assigned.
• Diagnose any mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic breakdown or failure to a motor truck or related equipment.
• Read precision instruments such as voltmeters, digital multimeters, calibrators and other electronic diagnostic tools.
• Perform general equipment maintenance and repairs.
• When applicable, use basic migwelding of steel and aluminum to complete repairs.
• Operate equipment to perform general equipment repair and installation.
• Perform assigned work in compliance with all Safe work procedures, guidelines, practices, permits, and air monitoring requirements.

REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or its equivalent required.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum 5 years' experience in truck trailer maintenance required. Minimum 1-year lead or supervisory experience required.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: This is a safety sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function. Chauffer's License required. CDL preferred. Good organizational and time management skills. Good customer service skills. Basic computer skills. Must have the ability to operate maintenance tools and equipment. Must have working knowledge of most of the systems located on a truck or truck tractor, or a semi-trailer. Ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record search to company standards. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.
