Landfill Operator

Essential Functions and Responsibilities                                                                                

• Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.                                                                                  
• Unloads waste from incoming trucks.                                                                                     
• Operates bulldozer to move waste onto the working face of the landfill; operates track loader to cover waste with dirt.                                                                                               
• Applies fresh dirt to keep dumping area clean. Covers waste with dirt and/or plastic tarp.                                                                                              
• Performs general inspections.                                                                                   
• Empties leachate building by tankers.                                                                                    
• Maintains equipment.                                                                                  
• May provide guidance to less experienced operators.          
• Monday through Friday 7am to 3pm

Education: High School Diploma or its equivalent.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          

Experience: One year experience operating similar heavy equipment is required.                                                                                   

Knowledge and Abilities: This is a safety sensitive position.  The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function. Thorough knowledge of operating heavy equipment. Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including respirator. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.                                                                                                     

A post offer drug screen will be required.
