Laboratory Analyst

Primary Purpose:


Highly experienced technician/chemist, focused as a strong technical leader – specifically as assigned by the Laboratory Superintendant. This highly knowledgeable person will be able to teach and perform multiple laboratory tests to provide reliable analytical services to operations as well as customers in a timely manner.


Essential Functions and Requirements:


  • Ensure that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times.
  • Analyze materials to determine characteristics ans waste profile.
  • Sustains a leadership role in support of the superintendent coordinating lab duties and assignments.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of Waste Analysis Plan (WAP).
  • Recognizes, adheres to, and endorses company and lab policies and procedures.
  • Organized and knowledgeable about instrumentation, minor repairs, and readiness for tours and audits.
  • Knowledge and proficiency of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
  • Perform composting, packaging, organizing and proper disposal.
  • Stock and organize laboratory areas and storeroom with chemicals and laboratory supplies.
  • Instrument checks including refrigerators, balances, hoods, thermometers, and pipettes.
  • Use and uphold good laboratory practices (e.g., QA/QC, documentation, maintenance/minor repairs, housekeeping, professionalism).
  • Must keep an appropriate appearance, good work ethics and habits, and strive for a positive attitude.
  • Work well in a team-oriented environment. Train other laboratory technicians, as qualified.
  • Requires the excellent use of time management, with regards to work assignments and expectations.
  • Requires a hands-on approach, with regards to testing, training, and equipment maintenance (as needed).
  • Flexibility and willingness to assist any laboratory shift (as needed).

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Experience: Minimum 2 years' relevant experience in an environmental lab or similar lab setting required.

Knowledge and Abilities: Must have basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft programs. Time management with multi-tasking skills and aptitude. Excellent communication skills. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.
