Junior Environmental Engineer

Primary Purpose

Evaluate, categorize, and assimilate information regarding waste and recycling facilities to aid in the management of secondary materials to the highest and best use. Assist in adding to and managing emergency response network database. Ability to learn and apply environmental regulations. Ability to understand transportation logistics. The successful candidate will be able to evaluate existing information and gather additional data on the waste management industry. The qualified candidate will be able to evaluate and integrate the information into current business practices.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
  • Collecting and analyzing waste transportation and disposal data.
  • Recommending improvements to boost performance and reduce costs.
  • General understanding of environmental regulations, specifically as they pertain to solid and hazardous waste.
  • Integrate with waste approvals, field services, supply chain, research, and compliance departments.
  • Manage and complete projects on schedule, within scope and within budget.
  • Analyze data to identify problematic areas and suggest improvements.
  • Plan and implement waste allocation optimization projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Collaborate with IT professionals to implement effective systems.
  • Track KPI's and report on performance.

Education: Bachelor's or master's degree in environmental engineering required.

Experience: Prior internships with related experience preferred.

Knowledge and Abilities: General understanding of fate and transport of hazardous chemicals. Ability to learn environmental regulations and their impact on waste disposal. Basic understanding of Logistics. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Computer skills necessary to determine the proper format for work products. Strong analytical skills and business acumen. Experience in data mining, analysis, and reporting. problem-solving aptitude. Mapping software experience preferred. Data analysis software experience (ie, Power BI) preferred. Attention to detail. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.
