HR Internship- Onboarding Program

Heritage is looking for a motivated, critical, dynamic, personable, and professional Human Resource Intern for our summer 2023 program. The HR Intern will gain exposure and experience in the principles, methods and techniques of Human Resource practices.

Primary Purpose:

The HR Intern will directly assist the Human Resources Department to develop a formal onboarding program. As an intern, you will work closely with business stakeholders to gain a full understanding of how to support our business needs to build beyond pre-boarding tasks and orientation and to outline a harmonized, seamless onboarding workflow.

Essential Functions and Requirements:

  • Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times
  • Host meetings with location managers and Regional HR Partners to gather process related details
  • Document and evaluate business processes and related data, including identifying systems and/or programs utilized.
  • Present results be means of written and/or verbal presentation
  • Identify areas of improvement and seamless workflows, and potentially work on implementing those changes
  • Attend department and project related meetings
  • Shadow HR Partners and participate in full cycle hiring processes for project need and understanding
  • Assist or create supporting tools, resources, and checklist for successful onboarding processes by use of existing internal programs/systems, or other available options presented
  • Assist in creating department or location-specific training for onboarding program
  • Ultimately assist in organizing and coordinating HR procedures, and practices

Education: College student entering your sophomore or junior year, studying Human Resources, Business, or organization management.

Experience: Knowledge and use of standard Microsoft applications (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Knowledge and Abilities: Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job. Ability to attend full internship June 5th - August 11th, 2023, with a commitment to a minimum 30-hour work week; M-F. Must be self-motivated, have the hunger to learn, and be detail oriented. The ideal candidate will be a Go-getter, a team player, and a critical thinker - able to evaluate data and draw conclusions and summaries as well as comfortable communicating and presenting to individuals 1:1 and small groups.

Requirements: Local to Indianapolis area. Will work on-site at corporate HQ with HR Team
