Group Leader - Fixation - Indianapolis, IN

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes , and acting in a safe manner at all times.                                                                                        
  • Schedules, plans and directs employees in their assigned tasks ensuring production goals are met in an efficient manner.                                                                                            
  • Operates Heavy machinery to load dump trailers and mix solid waste in treatment pits.                                                                                  
  • Ensures all employees are working in a safe manner with any prescribed safety equipment required by company policy.                                                                                               
  • Trains new employees in company and department procedures and monitors adherence.                                                                                             
  • Interfaces with other areas and departments to ensure a smooth flow of product through the treatment cycle.                                                                                               
  • Monitors equipment assigned to area and notifies maintenance of major breakdowns.                                                                                   
  • Utilize thorough knowledge of unloading and loading procedures in accordance with company, federal, state, and local regulations/rules.                                                                                        
  • Assist in unloading Dump Trailers, Roll Off Boxes and Tankers of hazardous materials into appropriate treatment pits.                                                                                 
  • Uses water hoses to de-con trucks in CBW/CBR buildings, operates reagent delivery systems, sump pumps, and maintains general housekeeping.                                                                                   
  • Performs basic spill clean up with little direction.                                                                                              
  • Maintains operating logs.                                                                                            
  • Responsible for keeping operating areas, walls, pipes, and floors in a clean and safe condition.                                                                                    
  • Basic chemical knowledge (pH, Acid, base, Oxidizer)                                                                                        
  • Operate fork truck, Bob-cat attachments and other HES vehicles.                                                                                              
  • Position handles hazardous materials and will often require use of PPE; boots, gloves, suits, eye/ear protection and respirator.                                                                                           
  • May participate in hiring, performance evaluation, discipline, promotions and termination decisions.

Education: High School Diploma or its equivalent required.                                                                                                                                                                                                                           

Experience: Internal, One to Three years of Heritage Plant Operations experience required. External candidates, minimum One to Three years of Industrial Facility leadership experience required.                                                                                                                                                                                                                

Knowledge and Abilities: This is a safety sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function. Ability to understand RCRA compliance standards and OSHA safety regulations. Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including respirator.                                                                                                                                                                          

A post offer drug screen will be required.
