Environmental Specialist

Primary Purpose

Provide onsite EHS support.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in applicable state and federal EHS regulations and guidelines and apply in production and service areas.
  • Ensure appropriate waste characterization per EPA and Indiana regulatory requirements.
  • Gather and submit data for internal and external reports, including required regulatory submissions.
  • Coordinate routine EHS activities within and outside work group.
  • Conduct EHS field and record audits and ensure storage in record retention for designated EHS programs.
  • Develop, review, and maintain program documentation and training for the hazardous waste manifest and other assigned EHS programs.
  • Serve as consultant and key point of contact for assigned EHS programs with both internal and external customers.
  • Participate in investigation of EHS audit/inspection deviations.
  • Completed Annual and Biennial Reports for the site.
  • Participated in the RCRA Part B Permit renewals.
  • Completed Waste Stream reviews.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Required: 8+ years of applicable EHS experience, or a combination of operations and EHS experience in a pharmaceutical or chemical manufacturing environment.

Knowledge and Abilities: This is a safety sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function. Must have the ability to write and revise new and established controlled documents (procedures, training, etc.) with the required amount of detail. Must be self-directed, self-managed, reliable, and capable of success with minimal supervision. Possess project management skills complete assigned tasks on time with the ability to prioritize in an environment of competing demands. Must be proficient in using computers and have experience in MS Office programs and demonstrated ability to learn other computer software programs. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.

A post offer drug screen will be required.
