Document Control Specialist

Primary Purpose

Ensure that paperwork that accompanies hazardous and nonhazardous waste are compliant with all DOT and RCRA requirements

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
  • Review all inbound manifest, LDRs and shipping papers to verify count, shipping description, profiled waste codes, underlying constituents and completeness.
  • Contact customers to resolve shipping paper discrepancies. Work with receiving department to resolve container count and waste stream discrepancies.
  • Maintains inventory records of containerized wastes in the barcode computer system.
  • Ensure stored drums meet DOT compatibility and labeling requirement. Inspects containers for visual integrity while in storage.
  • Input and retrieve waste data into the HP system.
  • Verify generator re-certification of waste streams before unloading inbound loads.
  • Performs various plant processes as necessary.
  • Order safety supplies.
  • Coordinates movement of containers managed through the 10-day transfer stations with those containers managed through Heritage's 10-day plant.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience: Minimum 2 years experience in hazardous waste industry required.

Knowledge and Abilities: Good working knowledge of RCRA, DOT, placarding and OSHA compliance required. Ability to communicate effectively and in a positive manner with customers and co-workers. 40 hour HAZWOPER Training completion required. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.

A post offer drug screen will be required.
