Primary Purpose

Reporting to the CFO, the Director of Procurement will be responsible for designing, implementing and managing our centralized Supply Chain-Procurement department. The Director of Procurement will lead and develop the team with a strong focus on continuous improvement and value creation for Heritage Environmental Services. This person will be an integral partner to Operations and Commercial leadership as they streamline and scale supply chain and purchasing processes strategically and efficiently as Heritage continues to grow.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
  • Provide leadership and development to the Supply Chain Procurement team.
  • Strategic planning and execution to enhance profitability, productivity, and efficiency throughout the company's operations.
  • Negotiate strong, mutually beneficial partnerships with our vendors. Lead and participate in vendor negotiations to ensure product/service quality and cost efficiency. Conduct RFP's as necessary.
  • Coordinate the logistics of supply chain including the plan or strategy, the source of raw materials or services, production, and delivery.
  • Ensure a strong financial position to improve profitability and growth through sound management of cost drivers, continuous improvement, cost controls, and supplier relationship management.
  • Interact regularly with executive team and individual department heads to ensure that company's operational priorities align with total company direction.
  • Continually identify and implement process improvements for the Supply Chain Procurement team and overall Procurement processes in the company.
  • Centralize and manage all indirect procurement spend across the organization to drive efficiency and lower costs.
  • Communicate vendor cost increases proactively to the Sales & Operations organization to ensure costs are well understood, fully mitigated, and passed on to the customer wherever possible.
  • Some travel required. Up to 20%

Education: Bachelor's degree required. Engineering, Management, Business, or related discipline preferred.

Experience: Minimum 10 years' Sourcing/Purchasing/Procurement management required. Proven purchasing/procurement experience in petroleum, chemical, utility, or waste management industries required. Experience with government buying practices and XBE purchasing preferred. APICS certification a plus. Minimum 7+ years' experience in management role required.

Knowledge and Abilities: This is a highly visible role where showing up and leading by example is absolutely necessary drive change and better business outcomes. Demonstrated analytical skills and techniques, visible display of intellectual curiosity, and proven record of making a positive difference in the outcome of projects. Keen ability and affinity for influencing, building trust and credibility, and collaborating with cross-functional teams and leaders. Strong business acumen and an understanding of value to assist in analyzing business information to provide insights. Polished and effective communication skills, keenly skilled in questioning, challenging, and inquiring with tact and diplomacy. Successful track record in project management, leading cross-functional project teams, communicating the purpose, objectives, timeline, deliverables, results, etc. Experience with Oracle and Microsoft PowerBI is a plus. Ability to thrive in a hands on, opportunistic, problem-solving culture. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary to document and effectively translate procurement impacts and opportunities to operations and commercial colleagues. Analytical thinking abilities to develop a strong purchasing strategy. Ability to understand and apply risk management concepts to supply chain management. Command a thorough knowledge of RFP processes. Strong negotiating skills. Technical capacity. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.
