Director of Business Intelligence

Primary Purpose

The Director of Business Intelligence will oversee a wide range of market research efforts, providing actionable insights for HES leadership. The Director analyzes industry trends and competitor activity, using data to guide decision making. Th Director also supports HES commercial activity, collaborating with sales and marketing staff to help grow revenue.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Market Research

• Conduct market research, oversee third-party vendors and manage subscription tools to prepare comprehensive market assessments across HES products and services
• Analyze industry data to report on market opportunities and threats in a highly visual format, incorporating maps, graphs, and charts
• Condense research findings into meaningful takeaways for the business

Competitor Tracking

• Monitor competitor activity, gathering insights from online articles, press releases, investor presentations, and other publicly available sources
• Develop and maintain a central repository of competitor resources including primary research, annual reports, earnings statements, collateral, and HES field intelligence
• Establish information sharing rhythm with HES sales and marketing staff, including real-time updates for breaking competitor news, distribution of an internal e-newsletter, and annual deep-dive reports on major industry players.
• Integrate competitor intelligence with Salesforce, tracking project information and contract end dates, alerting HES sales leaders before upcoming key renewals

Commercial Activity Support

• Leverage Salesforce as the hub for customer data, working with sales and marketing teams to use the information to enhance HES reporting and campaigns
• Conduct sales pipeline reviews, highlighting key takeaways in a quarterly memo to inform sales strategy
• Monitor target account activity and collaborate with sales and marketing staff to support campaign efforts
• Review customer survey data and sales postmortem feedback, assessing opportunities to grow share of wallet and proactively address any potential revenue at risk

Education: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Economics, or another related field required.

Experience: Minimum 8 years of progressive responsibility in marketing and business development in a corporate environment required. Proven experience performing market research and presenting recommendations to leadership. Proven experience developing reporting solutions to provide insights which have directly impacted business strategy. Customer Relationship Management (CRM) experience required. Salesforce preferred.

Knowledge and Abilities: Excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Presentation skills a must. Must have exceptional Excel and PowerPoint skills and demonstrate data fluency. Previous experience in agency advertising/marketing/PR desired. Environmental Services industry experience preferred Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.
