Director, Commercial Strategy
Primary Purpose:
The Director, Commercial Strategy will be responsible for developing comprehensive commercial strategies to accelerate new customer growth. This role will utilize various data streams and cultivate key relationships to identify, create, communicate, and implement strategic plans that align with Heritage's mission and objectives. This role reports directly to the Company President.
Essential Functions & Requirements:
- Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times
- Leads the development and implementation of the Company's commercial strategic plan in alignment with organizational goals and objectives
- Conducts comprehensive market analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and threats; uses insights to inform pricing strategies and ensure competitive positioning
- Utilizing a data-driven approach, develops go-to-market strategies for services by prioritized market segment and customer type, identifies specific customer targets, and equips the commercial team to achieve deeper market penetration
- Establishes key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness of strategic initiatives. Regularly monitors performance against targets and adjusts strategies as needed
- Assesses and mitigates risks associated with strategic initiatives. Develops contingency plans to address potential challenges and ensure business continuity
- Communicates the Company's strategic direction, priorities, and progress to stakeholders, including the executive team, employees, and external partners; ensures alignment and buy-in at all levels
- Aligns with Sales and Marketing teams to develop long-term commercial strategy through thoughtful design and partnerships, establishing effective process and controls, clearly articulating priorities, and by building and providing the right tools for the team to deliver results
- Works with the CFO and Finance team to develop financial models, forecasts, and budgets in support of strategic objectives. Monitors financial performance and resource allocation to optimize efficiency and ROI
- Stays abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices. Drives innovation initiatives to enhance service offerings and maintain competitive advantage
- Maintains a willingness and ability to travel up to 30% of the time, which may include overnights; this could involve traveling to different locations, attending meetings, conferences, or other work-related activities that require being away from the primary work location
- Completes other duties and projects as assigned
Education:

- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Finance, Economics or a related field (required)
- MBA (preferred)
Experience:
- 5+ years of industry related experience and continued professional development (required)
- Proven track record of success in a senior strategic leadership role (required)
- Previous experience in waste management or related industry (preferred)
