Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
  • Maintain active Driver roster, updated weekly
  • Maintain driver files Keep track of when physical/medical card is due. Complete MVR yearly review. Update driver's license/DOT annual inspection
  • Ensure pre-employment and random drug screen results are in DQ files
  • Manage fleet of drivers for Logs - enter logs, take corrective actions by training drivers on errors they are making on logs, audit fuel transactions, tolls, other time date stamp documents against logs, run end of month noncompliance log letters
  • Assist with driver training on the E-log platform
  • Check Portal and Safer systems daily and update management of any new changes or updates
  • Ensure all tractor permit books are current
  • Order log books, FMCSA books and accident kits
  • Order and keep placards in stock
  • Add/Update/Change any driver changes to MMS in the driver file and tractor file and inform departments
  • Accidents drive all investigations; ensure that we have statements of any accidents that occur. Ensure that if drug test is required that they are taken per DOT regulations
  • Update Director of Compliance on any current regulations: FMCSA and DOT requirements and related safety programs
  • Perform mock audits regularly to verify compliance
  • Maintain FMCSA and DOT compliance via: driver files, operating licenses, permits, MVR's, driver qualifications, driver history, medical reports, certification of road tests, record of violations, driver's logs, alcohol and drug test notifications, safety performance past and present, etc.
  • Assist with driver training and tracking of the training
  • Attend and setup company safety meetings

Education: High School Diploma or its equivalent required.

Experience: 1-2 years of relevant DOT experience required. Extensive Knowledge of 40 and 49 CFR will be viewed as favorable.

Knowledge and Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form with a strong customer service orientation. Ability to adapt to change in a fast-growing environment. Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to be proactive and take ownership of job duties and meet deadlines. Strong understanding of all transportation regulations relating to the movement of hazardous materials.

A post offer drug screen will be required.
