Corporate Finance and Accounting Internship

Primary Purpose: This internship opportunity with Heritage Environmental Services is part of a large program hosted by our parent company, The Heritage Group. It is a 12 week program where you are immersed in your assigned department gaining real hands on experience and participating in over 20 different events with the larger intern network.


Essential Functions and Requirements:

  • Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
  • Gain an overall understanding of our company and participate in the monthly financial state close process.
  • Develop an understanding of what a corporate accounting group does by working within our functional teams in billing, procurement, project costing, cash application, and credit extension and collection.
  • Develop an understanding on how the above functional transactions flow into and impact the creation of the financial statement.
  • Assist in creating, reviewing, and analyzing monthly financial income statement reports.
  • Be responsible for scheduling and reconciling accounts while learning about the balance sheet statement.
  • Document business opportunities through financial modeling and business case development
  • Administer business opportunity management system.

Education: Full-time enrolled current Sophomore or Junior pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting ,or related field. Minimum 3.0 GPA preferred.

Experience: Prior internship or after school/weekend experience preferred.

Knowledge and Abilities: Understands MS Office tools. Ability to learn business specific software. Ability to analyze and problem solve. Strong teamwork, networking, written and verbal communication skills. Organizational and time management skills.

Requirements: Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job. Must be able to complete a minimum of 10 out of 12 weeks.


A post offer drug screen will be required.
