Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
  • Maintain DOT compliance via: driver files, operating licenses, permits, MVR's, driver qualifications, driver history, medical reports, certification of road tests, record of violations, driver's logs, alcohol and drug test notifications, safety performance past and present, etc.
  • Monitor DOT regulations and update management of any new changes or updates.
  • Perform quarterly DOT Compliance updates at company safety meetings.
  • Perform DOT mock audits regularly to verify compliance.
  • Assist in effective responses to emergency situations, including timely notification of reportable incidents, response actions, removal of residues, and documentation efforts.
  • Assist with near miss and incident investigations, identifying root and contributing causes, develop documentation, coordinate corrective measures and follow up action.
  • Interact with corporate compliance and human resources to ensure timely and effective distribution of information between facility and corporate management and vice-versa. Assist in implementation of corporate compliance policies and programs, including completion of audit action items.
  • Serve as technical resource and mentor for facility employees associated with HS&E and DOT matters.
  • Represent the company as part of regulatory inquiries, regulatory inspections, and customer audits.
  • Perform as the company administrator for the PeopleNet E-Log system and integrated solutions.
  • Lead driver training on the E-log platform.
  • Monitor driver logs and correct as required.
  • Ensure all tractor permit books are current.
  • Order and keep placards in stock.
  • Assist with driver training and tracking of the training.
  • Manage the company Compliance, Safety, and Accountability (CSA) scores.
  • Act as the site administrator for the Lytx DriveCam system.
  • Draft, implement, and enforce company policies when necessary.
  • Receive, process, and examine all incoming Roadside Inspection Reports.

Education: High School Diploma or its equivalent required. Four year college degree preferred.

Experience: 2 years of relevant DOT experience required. Extensive knowledge of 40 and 49 CFR preferred. CDL driving experience a plus.

Knowledge and Abilities: Strong understanding of all federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to the transportation and environmental services industry. Strong organization and communication skills required. Ability to effectively utilize management systems. Travel required and must be available to respond to incidents as needed. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.
