Business Development Manager

Primary Purpose

To support and help drive new sustainable, profitable growth in several industries including construction, environmental, chemical, refining and energy.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
  • Develop, and serve as champion, for multiple business opportunities by formulating business plans, analyzing related fields and information, and collaborating with research scientists and engineers, and management.
  • Utilize vetting techniques and skills to assess the technical and economic viability of opportunities and determine the overall value of the opportunities for the company.
  • Update management weekly on progress of opportunities; coordinate with engineering and research scientists and make recommendations on courses of action to further strategic objectives.
  • Conduct market research on new and existing technologies, emerging markets, competitors, suppliers, and industry vertical markets to expedite growth opportunities.
  • Take a lead role in collaborating with potential partners, vendors, suppliers and consultants to develop business and business strategy.
  • Ability to assist in making newly developed processes and technologies operational and commercializing new businesses and products.
  • Gather and summarize financial and non-financial data; prepare reports; make presentations of findings, analyses, and recommendations.
  • Travel up to 20% including overnight.

Education: Bachelor's degree required. Engineering or Physical Sciences a plus.

Experience: Experience: Minimum 7 years tangible experience leading business operations at any level from start-up to large operations required. Work experience in green technology, manufacturing, waste management, recycling, construction, chemicals or energy required. Consulting experience or experience across multiple functional areas is a plus.

Knowledge and Abilities: Knowledge and Abilities: Excellent research and market analysis skills. Strong analytical, critical and creative thinker. Business acumen including understanding of accounting and financials. Collaborative and team-oriented. Exceptional written and interpersonal communication as well as presentation skills. High degree of self-confidence, poise, maturity, discretion, and diplomacy. Ability to work with and act in utmost confidentiality with sensitive leadership information. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.
