Broker Manager

Primary Purpose: The purpose of the position is to provide assistance in the brokering and proper disposal of waste materials. This position interacts with various departments, areas and units within the plant and greater Heritage. Tasks include Paperwork management, identifying and resolving problems, material identification, segregation, and documentation, brokering planning and completing supporting documentation of waste management activities.

Essential Functions and Requirements:

• Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes and acting in a safe manner at all times.

• Possess MMS skills to locate, track, manifest and ship waste to other facilities.
• Develops, maintains, and initiates reports on all activities for management review or required by regulations, company policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of high hazard materials management/assessment, cylinder handling, hazardous waste generation, management practices, shipping, and related procedures, including container labeling, sorting and waste determination when needed.
• Maintains, and initiates reports on all activities for management review or required by regulations, company policies and procedures.
• Assist in the scheduling, planning of employees in their assigned takes ensuring production goals are met and tracked in an efficient manner.
• Interfaces with inter-department areas, other departments and management to ensure a smooth workflow throughout the facility.
• Own and maintain a list of outbound facilities for brokered waste.
• Work with off-spec coordinator to ensure customers can receive a brokered option for off spec waste.
• Utilize waste knowledge to identify safe, compliant, and most cost-effective on-site storage, and packaging of brokered waste.
• Identify problems during brokering process and, work with Off-Spec Coordinator to ensure all issues are noted and resolved. Additionally document all issues including Compliance, Physical, and Chemical problems associated with the loads.
• Assist in planning and organizing the daily brokering activities including interaction with transporters to schedule loads, prevent and resolve issues, including any off-spec resolutions needed at outbound facilities.

Education: Bachelor's degree with a Science major required.

Experience: Minimum 3 years of RCRA and/or DOT experience in the hazardous waste management and/or environmental management industry required.

Knowledge and Abilities: This is a safety sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function. Must have excellent communication skills. Strong working knowledge of various Federal, State and Local industry related regulations required. Strong working knowledge of RCRA, DOT, placarding, compatibility, and segregation required. Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including respirator. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.
