Billing Specialist

Primary Purpose:

Participate in our mission to protect human health and the environment by efficiently and accurately processing invoices for waste disposal and transportation. Interact with internal and external customers and vendors to ensure invoice accuracy and timeliness.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
  • Responsible for calculating transactions based on inventory or other data provided. Performs manifest review and enters manifests into MMS system. Informs appropriate personnel of missing or incorrect data.
  • Responsible for reviewing proforma invoices in conjunction with staff at service location, finalizes proformas, issues credit and debit invoices according to SOPs.
  • Responsible for receipt of 3rd party invoices and assuring they processing timely and accurately.
  • Cross-train with Billing Specialist and Billing Manager.
  • Responsible for communication regarding invoice and pricing issues to appropriate people.
  • Ensures that invoice pricing and billing is done completely, accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for updating or creating SOP's for duties.
  • Responsible for review open transaction report for billing errors.
  • Accuracy critical to revenue/cost alignment in system. Proper understanding of cost allocations.
  • Assist in review of margins.
  • Completes customer requests for weights, manifest copies, and questions regarding invoices.
  • May distribute signed documents and/or manifest copies to customers and/or generators.
  • Special projects as needed.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Four-year degree preferred.

Experience: 2+ years' professional experience in an office or Customer Service setting required. . Accounting or Billing related role preferred.

Knowledge and Abilities: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with both internal and external customers. Superior time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks. Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects. Strong Microsoft Office and Excel Skills. Ability to solve problems and provide solutions with limited direction. Has client focused attitude and takes ownership towards resolving customer issues with high satisfaction. Must be detail oriented and possess accurate data entry skills. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.
