Application Manager

This position is responsible for application lifecycle management (governance, development and maintenance), proper functioning and operational availability of one or more core business applications. This position will be the supervisor of and/or work closely with other IT specialists (programmer, analyst, DBA, network and system administrator, help desk, security, project management, etc.) to ensure these responsibilities are met. The position will work with IT management to ensure the required resources and activities are known, planned and available. The position may have additional specific responsibilities in areas of a particular expertise. The position functions as the owner and key point of contact for resolution of issues with the application.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.

Manage the MMS application, and related systems to ensure secure and effective functionality and availability.

Oversee development team and provide expertise in software development best practices. Ensure proper documentation and testing is performed as part of change management process.

Work closely with the Heritage Group ITSS team resources to accomplish goals, including providing after-hours support for system management activities required by application or infrastructure changes.

Respond to production errors and emergency situations by providing tier-3 troubleshooting support to ensure incidents are resolved in an effective and timely manner.

Monitor application operations to ensure integrations with external systems and batch processes are functioning and/or initiate corrective actions to ensure all business processes supported by the application flow smoothly.

Work closely with IT management to coordinate work activities and resource planning, budgets, needs assessment and change management processes.

Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant area required. (Computer Science, Information Tech or similar program).

Experience: 5 years as a programmer required. Additional experience in IT Project Management, Database analysis, or Systems administration preferred.

Knowledge and Abilities: Demonstrated technical skills with systems analysis, design and programming tools appropriate to the application and technical environment. Ability to gain alignment among different stakeholders and represent a common point of view. Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated creative thinking and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated experience identifying and resolving issues independently. Demonstrated sense of accountability and sound personal judgement. High-level of self-awareness and desire to develop leadership capabilities. Ability to hold themselves and others accountable to high standards. Courage to take initiative in unfamiliar or ambiguous circumstances. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.
