An internship with Heritage Environmental Services will offer invaluable hands-on experience for your future career, as the selected individuals will be assisting business professionals in the daily management of the various departments.

Our Interns are given similar responsibilities and tasks to perform as if they were a new entry level Staff Accountant.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
  • Gain an overall understanding of our company and participate in the monthly financial statement close process.
  • Develop an understanding of what a corporate accounting group does by working within our functional teams in billing, procurement, project costing, cash application, and credit extension and collection.
  • Develop an understanding on how the above functional transactions flow into and impact the creation of the financial statement.
  • Assist in creating, reviewing, and analyzing monthly financial income statement reports.
  • Be responsible for scheduling and reconciling accounts while learning about the balance sheet statement.
  • Participate in monthly financial review calls with the executive team from Heritage.
  • Develop software skills in PeopleSoft and Oracle EPM systems that are used by many global companies today.

Education: Candidate must be a full-time enrolled student pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Accounting. Minimum 3.0 GPA preferred.

Experience: Prior Internship or after school/weekend work experience required.

Criteria: Must be able to complete a minimum of 10 weeks or a maximum 12-week commitment. Must be able to complete 40 hours per week.

Knowledge and Abilities: Must be willing to learn the business, Ability to prioritize tasks and handle numerous assignments simultaneously. Excellent problem solving and communication skills. Must have a high level of integrity, accuracy, dependability, enthusiasm and confidentiality. Excellent computer skills with a strong proficiency in Excel. Excellent verbal and written skills. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.

A post offer drug screen will be required.
