Finance Analyst Internship

An internship with Heritage Environmental Services will offer invaluable hands-on experience for your future career, as the selected individuals will have the opportunity to work under the guidance of mentors while engaging in real career-related activities. Additionally, successful applicants will have the opportunity to hone their skills in business planning, financial analysis, cost analysis, corporate accounting, budget and forecasting, commercial finance, operational review, and other corporate finance-based roles, while assisting business professionals in the daily management of the various departments.

Primary Purpose

This position is instrumental in collecting and processing information useful for the formation and development of business opportunities for an innovative and growing Environmental Services Company. Opportunities may include analyzing operational and financial data from other departments to identify efficiencies, performing financial analysis of corporate spend to identify cost-saving opportunities, analyzing sales trends (volume, price, mix changes) and updating sales forecasts, and preparing ROI on capital projects and other initiatives. This internship may touch many areas of business opportunities and may involve collaborating with both finance and non-finance business leaders.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
  • Conduct research online and in person
  • Data collection and analysis from various functional areas
  • Document business opportunities through financial modeling and business case development
  • Partner and coordinate with other team members and interns on projects
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education: Candidate must be a full-time enrolled Junior/Senior pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, or Finance/Accounting. Minimum 3.5 or above GPA preferred.

Experience: Prior full-time work experience via internship or other employment. Experience in manufacturing, waste management, recycling, construction, or energy industry desired.

Criteria: Must be able to complete a minimum of 10 weeks or a maximum 12-week commitment. Must be able to complete 40 hours per week.

Knowledge and Abilities: Adept at learning new skills, industries, and technologies. Strong analytical, critical, and creative thinking skills. Collaborative and team oriented. Exceptional communication skills both verbal and written. Strong Microsoft Office skills especially Excel and PowerPoint. Anxious to learn new things and contribute quickly. Timely, positive, and professional work habits required. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.
