Primary Purpose

Responsible for assisting Safety Manager in Environmental Health and Safety Compliance to help prevent harm to workers, property, the environment, and the general public.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Assists with the implementation of safety and compliance processes and procedures
  • Provides support and supervision in reviewing and monitoring work practices to encourage safe work habits
  • Remains on call to respond to emergency medical problems at the plant and escorts employees for medical, as needed
  • Checks, maintains and restocks all first-aid kits
  • Performs weekly inspection of all emergency eye wash an showers, maintaining, cleaning and refilling as necessary
  • Performs monthly inspection of all fire extinguishers, maintaining, cleaning and coordinating refills with fire extinguisher vender to insure compliance
  • Monitors and maintains safety equipment
  • Inspect all production process fire suppression equipment
  • Conducts daily inspection of all emergency fire sand, fire hoses, and fire house, maintaining, cleaning and repairing as needed
  • Performs daily inspection of all safety signs
  • Conducts training and certification on all mobile equipment

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent. OSHA 30 Hour Certification preferred.  

Experience: One to two years' experience with knowledge of HS&E requirements. Hazardous waste experience strongly preferred.

Knowledge and Abilities: Good knowledge and understanding of all federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to the Environmental Services Industry. Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with internal and external contacts. Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.   Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.

A post offer drug screen will be required. A post offer background check may be required.
