Primary Purpose

Responsible for supervising a maintenance shop under the responsibility of an on-site Maintenance Manager. The Fleet Service Supervisor will lead a team responsible for preventative maintenance/repair of a fleet; machinery and providing direction to mechanics/technicians to ensure all maintenance/repairs are performed in compliance with Company safety and compliance standards, and with all federal and state regulations. This supervisor will be responsible for planning and scheduling repair work for the group and ensure all work is done in a safe and timely manner.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Scheduling repair/preventative work for mechanics to ensure all work is done in a safe and compliant manner.
  • Make daily labor/task assignments to ensure efficiency and quality of repairs.
  • Perform inspections of repairs to ensure all work is completed in accordance with company's compliance and safety procedures as well as federal and state regulations.
  • Conduct daily shop huddles, fleet walks, and identify training opportunities as needed.
  • Oversee repair diagnostics and perform road tests to vehicles to determine necessary repairs.
  • Oversee maintenance shop inventories to ensure necessary equipment and parts levels are maintained and purchases are within budget. Review and refer expenses to manager as appropriate.
  • Maintain knowledge of engine, emission systems, transmission, brake, hydraulic and electrical systems to perform preventative and repair maintenance functions on heavy equipment and vehicles used by Company.
  • Enter invoices to be paid.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:  High school diploma or its equivalent required.

Experience: Minimum 4 years maintenance experience in trucking industry required.  Minimum 1 year supervisory experience required. CDL preferred, must obtain within 6 months of employment.

Knowledge and Abilities: Excellent written and communication skills. Ability to manage time wisely. Knowledge of safe working practices, DOT, OSHA and other federal and state regulations. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.

A post offer drug screen will be required. A post offer background check may be required.
